My Life As A Middle Child - Putting Together The Pieces

Do you know what these mean?

OK, I received this email (from my best friend forever Lumpy) and I knew immediately that I had to post it out here to share with all of my blog friends.

We all know those cute little computer symbols called "emoticons," where:

:) means a smile and

:( is a frown. Sometimes these are represented by

:-) and

:-( respectively.

Well, how about some "assicons"? Here goes:

(_!_) a regular ass

(__!__) a fat ass

(!) a tight ass

(_*_) a sore ass

{_!_} a swishy ass

(_o_) an ass that's been around

(_x_) kiss my ass

(_zzz_) a tired ass

(_E=mc2_) a smart ass

(_$_) Money coming out of his ass

(_?_) Dumb Ass

Another installment of WBW

Yes, once again it's the middle of the week. You know what that means... Mama Duck is blessing us with another installment of Way Back Wednesday. This week's theme - Best Friends Forever.

Here I give you pictures of me and my best friend Lumpy.

(notice the horrible poodle perm I was sportin in the pic on the right. )

Lumpy and I have been friends since grade school when we met in Girl Scouts. We have been through a lot together over the years and still try to see each other on a regular basis.

There is soooo much I could say about her and why we are friends, but you would get bored and click to a new blog, so I'll try to come up with the top couple of things.

1) She is always there for me through thick and thin.

2) No matter what I do or tell her, she never judges me.

3) She always listens and only gives me advice when she knows I am asking for it.

4) She can always make me laugh when I am feeling down and need a pick me up.

Yes, my friend Lumpy is the best pal a girl could ever have. The pictures I have posted are actually from a collage she gave me a few years ago. The poem on it reads:

Special Friends

It has been said that real friends
Are very hard to find
The ones that stay when times are tough
Real Friends ~ the lasting kind

As I travel through this life
I know one thing is true
I will never find a better friend
Than I have found in you

Right back at ya Lumpy... I love you and you are the best!!!

What is the deal with it...

WARNING... the following post is a little TMI. Please note, you can not complain or ask for a refund as you have been warned and you didn't pay anthing.

I know we talk/write a lot about Poo, Poop, Poonamis, Great Escapes and the likes there of, however when it comes to our babies, it is gross yes, but totally acceptable and even quite funny. Now, when it comes to adults, it is a totally different situation.

I like most woman have a huge problem with going to the bathroom at work. Why is it that the men will actually saunter through the office with their newspaper or magazine and walk into and out of the bathroom with no problem and even stand there with the door open and hold a conversation knowing what they are going to be doing in there? UCK!!!! Now, we women have a different way of taking care of this, we seem to sneak off to a quite floor in the building to take care of our business and hope that no one notices.

Well today, I had such an experience. I was hit with the burning, churning stomach that had me running very quickly to a ladies room. Now, not wanting to use the facilities located within my office, I grabbed the elevator and went down to the first floor which has a restroom that is not in any particular company's office. So, I mad dash off the elevator, down the hall and into the ladies room making sure to grab the last stall of course. I think whew, I made it (there were moments when I didn't think I would) when I suddenly realized there was someone in the stall next to me. AWWWWWWW We were both deathly quite and I'm sure they were thinking the same thing I was... please hurry up with your business and get out so I can take care of mine.

Hmmm, maybe they should start installing single occupant bathrooms on each floor in obscure areas that are desiginated as the unspeakable business areas. With that, no one is to notice that you go in or come out of them. Maybe this would ease my fear of ummm, of ummm, well you know at work.

Signs, signs everywhere there's signs

Ok, now that you have that song stuck in your head and are hating me, I will try to see if I can amuse you on this one.

While on vacation last week, we were trying to decide where to eat dinner. Here are just some of the choices that we had: (if we drove by it, I did make DH stop long enough for me to snap a picture for you.)

Bambooze
Brew & Que Smoked (Slogan: "We're Smokin' the Good Stuff")
Dog Days The "Dummy" (Slogan: Through our doors walk the finest people on earth, Our Customers.)
Half Sauced Barbeque
Hook & Hoof (Slogan: We'll do the Hook'n & the Hoof'n, You do the Eat'n)
Hooker's Bar & Grill
Hooligan Bay

The Horny Toad @ Toadcove

Peckers

Pickled Petes
The Poop Deck
Quackers

Yes, there were normal restaurants too, but these names just cracked me up.

My thoughts on a couple of them were:
Hooker's - Not a place I think I want my DH to go
Horny Toad - Not a place I think I want to go as I already had to put out thanks to all your comments.
Peckers - Can't eat here, as this is one of those words that I just can't say without laughing.
The Poop Deck - Sorry folks, not going to eat anywhere that includes the word poop even if they do mean it in a nautical term.

Also, I think the best slogan award has to go to Brew & Que.

Lock up those vehicles...

A new list for stolen vehicles is now out.

If you own the following you may want to take note and read the story above:

Cadillac Escalade (like I could afford one of these)
Nissan Maxima
Dodge Stratus
Chrysler Sebring
Dodge Intrepid

My sleep study is over

WOO HOO!! Another thing done and off my list. I still have to wait for the sleep study doctor to review my results and pass them onto my primary care doctor, however the technician told me that I definitely have sleep apnea.

At least I this explains my extreme fatigue, moodiness, forgetfulness and general lack of creativity. I was beginning to think that I was losing it at a very early age.

They had me sleep in a room that actually did look like a small hotel room, so it was comfortable. However, I had wire leads going everywhere. 2 on each calf, 2 on my chest 2 on my forehead and 2 on the back of my head and 2 more at the base of my skull. I also had a wire taped to the end of my finger. I felt like I was wire for sound and movement. Apparently, I was as not only do they have all of the wires leading to a machine to record everything, there is also a camera and speaker in the room that is on at all times. Yes, while I was lying there sleeping, someone was watching and listening to me. Talk about creepy!!!

Then, around 3:00 this morning, she came in and put me on this machine. If the wires weren't already unattractive enough, this one totally put me over the top.

I have to laugh though, as one of the side effects is loss of sexual desire. So, if the doctor precribes one of these CPAP machines for me at home to cure my sleep apnea, my sexual desire is supposed to increase, I'm thinking my DH will take one look at me in this contraption and his desire will hit rock bottom. Won't this be a nice switch, I'll be all want'n some and he'll be all... not tonight, I have a headache. LOL

It's almost Sunday

Yes, we made it back from vacation. Lots to do and will post more later as I need to pack up to head off for my sleep study soon.

In the meantime, don't forget to get out your favorite beef recipe for tomorrow's "Here's the Beef" Smorgasbord Sunday post.

Only in the country...

Driving to our condo, I noticed this gorgeous house set back in the woods with a wrap around porch. (The kind of house and porch that I want)

Across the road and down about 100 yards is this house. Talk about different property values!

Sorry the pictures aren't better, but I had to take them as DH was driving.

What I did on my summer vacation

Yesterday was once again a rainy day so we headed for the indoors, well the underground indoors anyway… Bridal Cave.

This is a beautiful cave that was actually used by the Osage Indians.

There is a local folklore that tells of the legendary Indian Wedding ceremony held in the cave in the early 1800’s and now, more than 2000 couples have been married in the Bridal Chapel room of the cave. It was awesome to walk around and see all the beautiful stalactites and stalagmites that Mother Nature has created.

Today is sunny and beautiful… DH is off golfing and I have found a Panera Bread Café that has wireless access! WOO HOO After this, I am off to the outlet mall to see if I can find a pair of shoes that Easily Amused wants and purchase a Coach purse that I have been drooling over for 2 days now.

Hope all is well out there in blog land.

Should I or shouldn't I?

Did I ever tell you how I met my DH? My son was going to a HDL for before and after school care and this happened to be DH’s aunt. He used to come by to visit his aunt and play games with the children. One day when I got there to pick up my son, they were playing football. Yes, he was playing football with 5 to 8 year olds, that alone makes him endearing. I called for my son to toss me the ball (yes, I was in my work clothes and wearing heels) and DH then grabbed me from behind and spun me around to get the ball from me. I will never forget the butterflies I felt in my stomach when we made contact. That was the list time I saw him for several months as my son was going to a summer camp the next week.

I had a bizarre and not so fun summer that year. I turned 30… this was actually the least traumatic part of the summer. My car was in the shop 7 times, I had the gas company out 3 times as I kept smelling gas (it ended up that the built in grill had a leak), and one day I came home and found the electric lines had pulled out of the side of my house. To top it off, I was dating a guy (for the 2nd time) and he decided to suddenly break it off with me again. (Can we say commitment phobia?)

So anyway, my son was going back to HDL as school was starting in a week. That weekend he wanted to go out of town to his grandparents which worked fine for me, as I really needed a break. So, on Friday I go to pick him up and he has changed his mind. He doesn’t want to go out of town, he just wants to go to R’s house as he hasn’t seen him all summer. After discussing this decision with him, he was off.

To go this next part, you have to picture this. I was sitting in a backwards little plastic kid chair at a table that was only 3 feet high at the most. I put my head down and when I sat back up, I started telling HDL how crappy my summer was. It just so happens that DH was there that day. He told me that I was about to have a melt down and really needed some relaxation. I agreed and told him that was what this weekend was supposed to be. He then suggested the sweetest thing… he was house sitting at a huge house, tennis courts and built in pool. He said why don’t you bring your son out on Sunday and I will entertain him while you relax at the pool. I gave him my ph# and he was to call me on Sat night to arrange. My son ended up going out of town the next morning (after a 3 hour drive on my part) so when DH called, I told him thanks, but no thanks. He insisted that I still needed a break and that the pool was just sitting there not being used. I ended up meeting him Sat night, August 23rd and we sat by the pool talking and then dancing into the wee hours of the morning. It was the best evening of my life and I knew that night that this was my one true love… we have been together ever since.

Knowing that my life had been very topsy turvy, DH was very patient and understanding in my making him wait period. After a few months he took me on a trip to the Lake of the Ozarks. This is where we, (well you get the idea) for the first time.

Now, back to my title, should I or shouldn’t I. So, now here I sit at the Lake of the Ozarks on August 23rd. Hmmm, you do the math on this one… I’m thinking he wants to get lucky.

We made it

Yes, we made it to the lake yesterday afternoon. YEAH! Unfortunately, about 20 miles before we got here, the rain started… a huge downpour. It has been raining off and on ever since, but that’s ok, it’s still great just to be away from home and work.

The condo where we are staying is great.

It has a fabulous view of the lake and you have to drive through a state park to get to it – very secluded and peaceful. Last night we actually saw 2 deer and this morning a wild turkey.

After finding the condo and exploring our surroundings, we went to the outlet mall. 110 stores at my disposal, it is a shopping paradise. I actually bought 2 pair of Etienne Aigner shoes for $10 each… what a bargain!

No wireless access at the condo, but I did make a stop at a hotel for a client meeting and they had it so I was able to post this. Till I find access again, good day and good bye.

P.S. Pictures to follow when I have more time.

While I'm away...

Yes, I am finally outta here!!! We are off to the Lake of the Ozarks as soon as I hit publish on this post. If I can find wireless access, I will post during the trip, if not here are some oldies that are feeling lonely with little or no comments to keep you entertained until I return.

The one about manic mondays

The one about life being so hard

The one about the full moon

The one about whether or not to blog

The one about the zoo

Have a great week!!!

A Day of Running

Lots of errands and things to do today, so can't blog much. I did want to share this real quick

A kiss from Doodlebug! (Warning - don't get too close as the spit normally starts flying about 10 seconds after this face is made)

Everyone have a great day and I'll be back tonight.

Stuff Portrait Friday

Ok, this post is really late due to technical difficulties... no power. Yes, we lost power tonight, but it is now back on and we are cooling back off.

Stuff Portrait Friday is brought to us by Kristine over at Random and Odd. This week's topic is:

Something you made
The tools of your hobby
Something you wish to give away

So, my first thought was "Something I want to give away? Oh yeah, the teenager fits this one. " LOL "Something I made? Oh yeah, the teenager fits this one too" LOL "The tools of my hobby? OH OH OH, can't post that (must keep my PG13 rating and trust me, no one would want to see that picture!), must choose something besides the teenager for my something I made picture.

Something I made ~ So, I thought about it, and I already showed you this and Crayonz showed you this, so you know I can make bracelets. I guess I will have to go with scrapbooking, but just about everyone does scrapbooking. Hmmm, I know, I make candles. Well wouldn't you know I don't have any around that I have made.

I recovered my kitchen chairs. This counts as something I made doesn't it?

Tools of my hobby ~

Here are my scrapbook bags that contain a lot of paper and scrapping items.

Here is the little cart that I keep more of my supplies for scrapbooking. I have even more stuff, but it's in the basement as I have totally run out of space in my little corner of Doodlebug's room.

Something I wish to give away~

This is a pile of junk in my basement that I keep saying we are going to have a yard sale and get rid of. I think when I get back from vacation that I am just going to load it all up and drop it off at the nearest Goodwill.

No, the white laundry basket is not going, Easily Amused made this for Doodlebug and right now, it is just holding stuff that was moved out of the spare room when we made it hers.
Hopefully you played this week. If so, let me know and I will make sure to stop by.

Tantrum Thursday

Crayonz posts a tantrum picture of her adorable daughter every Thursday. Well, today she didn't have one to post. Therefore, I thought I would post one of Doodlebug to let her know that not all babies were happy this week.

This is what an over tired Doodlebug looks like. Yes, she even does the arm flaying when she has a fit. (I think she picked this up from the hissy fits and tantrums that her Aunt Easily Amused throws.) LOL

His other love is back

and I am once again a single woman.

Yes, my DH has a second love. This is something that I knew when I married him. It was openly discussed and I accepted it and agreed for approximately 25 weeks of the year, I would be a single woman on Sundays and Mondays. So, it is once again that time of the year ~ Are you ready for some Football?!?!

My DH eats, sleeps and breathes sports... sports are his life. I know it and I accept that sports are a part of him and they even put food on the table and pay for many of the things that I have and enjoy. However, my DH is even more into football than any other sport. He watches the pre-game show, the game, then the post-game show. After all of that, he must watch several channels of ESPN for any and all highlights, not to mention the sports segment of the local news. Now as if this isn't bad enough, if his beloved team The Steelers are playing he is even more into it. (No, he is not from PA nor has he ever lived there, he just loves the team back from the days of Terry Bradshaw.) I have learned not to even attempt to walk, talk or breathe in his vicinity which may possibly result in him to lose a moment of the game. As we have TIVO he even rewinds and replays parts over in slow motion.

Yes, my husband has another love. What I can't understand, is that most men cheat on their wives with cute young blonde chicks. Not mine, he chooses big sweaty rough tough men in tight pants. Should I be grateful or offended???

Sunday is only a day away...

Don't forget to hop over to Smorgasbord Sunday tomorrow to post and view new recipes.

The topic for this week is "Eggs"traordinaire.

It's a happy day in my world

Yes, I am a happy camper today for a couple of reasons.

1) You may have noticed that my ticker shows Doodlebug was 7 months old yesterday. Yes, she is becoming such a big girl.

2) Remember the new laptop and wireless router that I just got? Well, I was excited as I can now blog from anywhere in the house. However, I had one drawback, to post pictures, I have to be at my desk. Then today I remembered that when DH bought me my camera, he also bought me this. Yes, I can now pull the pictures from my memory disk directly to my laptop. Whooo Hooo.
So here are some new pics of Doodlebug as a 7 month old.

Ohhh, I love bath time with my new bath chair.

I'm awake from my afternoon nap. I wonder if anyone is around?

Yes, GMa is here! (This is her look whenever she wakes up and spots one of us.)

Look at my tunnel, it looks like a long way to the other end.

Toys? What toys, the TV is on.

More Packages

Yes, you read that right, more packages. As discussed in this post, I love getting packages.

Well, yesterday was all about packages... sending and receiving.

Sending: Yesterday, I mailed a little something to someone. I hope when they get it that they like it and they let me know. If they don't like it and I totally failed and suck, I hope they will quietly send me a private email. LOL You know who you are, so keep your eyes open for the mailman.

Receiving: When I got home from work yesterday, there was a package waiting for me from marebear. I was so excited as she told me that she was sending me a belated birthday gift. Remember all the great gifts I got? Well, I think this one may just top them all.

Does she know me or what???

DH has already started me off by putting $2 in my jar. I hope he adds more, as that won't even buy a gallon of gas.

Another episode of Stuff Portrait Friday

It's Friday, which means TGIF and SPF. Kristine over at random and odd went outside of the box for this week's theme. OK, really we went outside.

  • Your ride
  • A mile away
  • The reason you love where you live

MY RIDE

So here's my ride, nothing exciting, but I absolutely love it. zoom zoom zoom

A MILE AWAY

This is a park near in my neighborhood. I used to love to sit on the dock at night over the lake and listen to the water from the fountain. If it ever cools off, I just might start doing it again.

THE REASON I LOVE WHERE I LIVE.

I had a lot of thoughts about why I love it here, 1. We have Seasons 2. There are soo many things to do 3. Beautiful Parks like above 4. Things like this... Yes, they are building a new Target about 5 miles from my house. It is actually on my way home from work. I am so excited and I can't wait till it opens.

See the blue P at the back of the building? Yes, it even has a parking garage. I Heart you Target.

Happy Friday everyone!

How do I love thee...

let me show you how much

When DH came home tonight, he found these sitting on the kitchen table waiting for him.

I stopped by the grocery store tonight on my way home and I saw these and thought wow, those are beautiful and bought them for him. Plus, they were buy 1 get 1 free. $8 for the whole thing, what a bargain. ; )

Then, he turned and found this

This is one of his favorites that I haven't made for awhile. Blueberry-Peach Coffee Cake.

Good thing I took the picture before he got home as it is almost 1/2 gone now.

We used to do things like this for each other all the time. We still spoil each other for Bdays, Anniv & Christmas, but with working so many hours, hectic schedules and the comfort of marriage, the surprises we used to do for one another have taken a drastic decrease. I think I am going to start trying to something unexpected like this for him at least once a month for the rest of the year.

Yes, I love my DH oh so very much!!!

(Note as I'm typing this post, the song For the First Time by Kenny Loggins has started to play on my media player... this is the song we danced to when we got married.)

P.S. if you want to do something special for your other, try making this coffee cake, it's delish and here's the recipe.

BLUEBERRY-PEACH COFFEE CAKE

INGREDIENTS:
1 Pkg Blueberry Muffin Mix (I like the Duncan Hines Bakery Style)
2 Large Peaches
¼ Cup Sugar
¼ Cup Four
½ tsp Cinnamon
2 TBL Margarine

DIRECTIONS:
Rinse and drain blueberries and set aside. Peel and cut peaches into slices and set aside.

In a small bowl, combine sugar, flour and cinnamon. Cut in butter and set aside.

Mix muffin batter as directed on the label, except DO NOT fold in the blueberries.

Spread batter in a greased 8" or 9" square pan. Top with drained blueberries and peach slices. Sprinkle cinnamon mixture over fruit. (If you used the bakery style muffin mix, you can also spread the crumb topping for that over this as well)

Bake at 400F for approximately 25 to 35 minutes until golden brown.

Do you know what day it is?

It's the middle of the week
It's Hump Day
It's Way Back Wednesday

This week's theme was once again thought up by the one and only brilliant Mama Duck over at The Kept Woman is "A Family Vacation".
I started thinking, we didn't do much in the way of family vacations. During the summer, we would go camping every weekend, but we really didn't take photos or anything. We actually slept in a tent for many years and then upgraded to a pop-up camper. Mom & Dad finally bought a lot and put a small camper on it when I was in high school.

We did however take a few trips to see my Aunt in Springfield, Missouri. While there, we went to Branson and visited the Ozarks College Museum and Silver Dollar City. I used to love the museum, it had a lot of Laura Ingalls Wilder memorbelia, the car from the Beverly Hillbillies show and so many interesting things. Back then, Silver Dollar City was all shops and only 1 ride, "Fire in the Hole". It was a great roller coaster ride for it's time.
So, here is my picture of me and my family at Silver Dollar City's Marvel Cave.

If you check out the first row starting at the left, there is my niece K and then Easily Amused. If you start at the right, it is my cousin L and then me. The very back row on the left is my older sis (doesn't she look just thrilled to be there), mom, dad and my brother.
I hope all your vacation memories are happy ones.

Is the weekend over?

Wow, this weekend flew by and so is tonight... ok, quick post as it's already 9:30 and I haven't even eaten yet.

I think I have caught up on all my responses to comments received. I have now caught up on reading all blogs, but I was (shoot, bloglines just bleeped at me, so scratch that last thought) not able to comment on all of them. I will try to be better in the future. : )

I am so giddy with excitement tonight... I had a frustrating but great time this evening. No, I didn't go out anywhere and no one came over. I just finished setting up a wireless router and laptop that my DH agreed to let me buy this past weekend. (The frustrating part was getting the IP info from my provider as mine isn't static.) We actually bought this due to my job, but the best part is that now, I can blog from anywhere in the house! YEAHHHHHHHHH

Sunday, August 07, 2005

It's Sunday already???

Wow, where did this weekend go? Well, now that I remember that it's Sunday, I'm gonna go post my Side Dish Recipe over at Smorgasbord Sunday. Please feel free to drop by and check out all the great recipes. If you wish to post a recipe, just let me know and I will add you as a member.

Happy cooking!!!

Random things

First of all, Thank You to everyone who offered help in fixing my blog. (I still haven't received any chocolate... is it in the mail?) As you can see, it is pretty once again and only took me a few minutes to fix the template itself once my blog sister uploaded the graphics for me.

A big WOO HOO goes got to Crayonz for her help in getting my graphics loaded out there in web cyberspace.

Here are some random thoughts from the past few days...

Took Doodlebug to the store yesterday to get beads for a bracelet and ankle bracelet I am making for Lumpy. This was Doodles first trip sitting up in the cart. Doesn't she look happy? (Note to self: Must buy cart cover so that Doodle does not chew on cart where others may have touched and/or chewed.)

Yes, before you ask I have started taking my camera everywhere as you never know when a great moment might happen.

See what I had for breakfast today? I know it's sad, but it gets worse. 1) I had a Pepsi with my bowl of Cookie Crisp. 2) I actually did the games/puzzles on the back. 3) The whole time I was eating I kept thinking... hey, where's the cookie wizard? I liked him, he said "Cookie" this wolf looking mascot they have now doesn't even begin to say cookie.

So here is the bracelet I redesigned and strung for Lumpy, you can't see the middle section of it very well, as they are silver beads with initials and the flash was causing a glare. The other is the ankle bracelet I made her. I got the design from Easily Amused and I love mine so I know Lumpy will love hers too.

OK, that took all the creativity and energy I have for now. I'll be back later!

Where have all the good thoughts gone

Please hold on the line, your call is important to us. Nope, that's not it.

We will return after this short message. Nope, that's not it either.

Please stand by... searching for signal. This is closer, but still not it.

Road Construction - Next 5 miles, please be prepared to stop. Even closer yet.

Alright, the truth... this blog has been lacking in posts and return comments due to a decrease of creativity and sheer exhaustion of the blog owner. It does not help matters that the creator of the particular template used is no longer hosting the picture/graphics for it. Therefore, when the blog owner clicks onto the blog, they get tired and overwhelmed just thinking of the fact that they need to redo the entire thing.

Please be kind and patient and the blog should be up and running again before the weekend is over.

Also, please feel free to leave any comments, thoughts of inspiration and good vibes that may help in the process. Better yet, just send chocolate!!!

We thank you for stopping by to visit, please come again.

Way Back Wednsesday

It's that time again, time for WAY BACK WEDNESDAY. This week's assignment from mama duck is a Wedding Picture.

My DH and I were married on January 2, 1999 at the Holiday Inn.

This is a picture of us on the couch in the lobby area.

Now, before you start wondering what is up with these two, let me tell you our story.

We decided we didn't want a big traditional type of a wedding. We were both in our 30's and really just wanted a simple ceremony with our family and closest friends in attendance. We even decided not to have a reception and instead opted for a champagne toast, hor d’oeuvres, cake and punch. We found a beautiful house belonging to one of the college’s alumni groups that would allow us to rent it. We thought it was perfect for us, as there was a 2nd floor for me and Lumpy to get dressed and then on the first floor, there was a large room with a fireplace and Christmas decorations for the ceremony, with an attached room for the toast and food. (It even had a kitchen for any prep work needed.)

So anyway, a couple of days before our wedding, the weather outside turned frightful. Dumping approximately 3 inches of snow and ice on top of the snow we already had. Then the day before our wedding, the same thing happened again creating over 6 to 8 inches of treacherous snow and ice. Needless to say, we were very concerned about the weather. We received a call late on Friday (the day before) from the alumni house, telling us that they would not be able to clear the sidewalks and parking lot and therefore, they were canceling our reservation for the next day. Hello, this isn't a party I'm having, it's a wedding!!! Also, did you perhaps notice the date? I got married January 2nd, the day before was January 1st… a freaking holiday!!!

I immediately started calling around to find a place to hold the wedding. Everywhere I called told me they couldn’t help me and that the person in charge of the banquet rooms would be back on Monday. I finally lost it and started to cry and the girl on the other end felt so sorry for me that she called the banquet person at home and got her to call me back. They were wonderful… they agreed to give me a small banquet room! So, this is how I got married at the Holiday Inn.

OK, there was actually way more drama, with a Maid of Honor 80 miles away, DH to be with laryngitis, clogged pipes, missing cake and more, but I will save all of that for another time.

As this is actually my second marriage, here is a picture from my first marriage at 19.

I actually rented the dress for $200.

OK, I had to post this picture. This is the cake from my first wedding… my Mom made it for me. Wasn’t it great!!!

If you haven't played already, there is still time left. Get your post out there and then hop over to the kept woman and let her know I sent ya and that you played.

We'll call it... The Great Escape

I have discovered that some of the best and funniest stories that we tell seem to be about the "not so pretty" bodily functions.

A funny thing happened the other day, ok it's funny now, but the other day. UGH!!!

On Saturday morning, Doodlebug and I went to the mall (before anyone even says anything, it was to get her pics taken, not to shop) and EA and Mom met us there. After we got her pictures taken, picked out and paid for, we headed to the food court as we were all hungry. I fed Doodle her squash and then gave her a bottle so I cold eat.

While sitting there eating, my mom pointed to Doodle and said what's that? I looked down and there was a big green spot on the front of Doodle's shirt. I'm looking at it thinking her squash was orange, how did she get green on her shirt. I then had a light bulb moment... she had green beans for dinner last night. Now, one would first say to themselves as I did, she couldn't have pooped so much that it would come out the front of her diaper could she? Well, I am here to tell you that it can and it did. When I picked her up, it was not only coming out the front of her diaper, but also the back. I lovingly held her out at arms length and carried her to the bathroom. Did I mention that we were at the food court. Oh yes, there were some appetites lost that day. 1 outfit, 1 diaper, 2 disposable changing pads, approximately 15 wipes and a huge mess of paper towels later, we again had a clean sweet Doodlebug.

I am still in wonder and amazement at the amount of poo and the smell that can come out of one so little and sweet.

P.S. To the rude lady in the bathroom that was complaining...
1) about the fact that I was blocking one of the sinks. (there were 3 of them in the bathroom) Bathrooms are built with limited space and unfortunately, the diaper changing stations are not always in the most convenient places... get over it.
2) your comments about how disgusting it was... lady, just be glad that I was busy trying to clean up a fussy baby and wasn't able to deal with you as you would not have liked the words that would have come from my mouth. Also, you are very lucky you left that bathroom not wearing part of the mess I was cleaning up.

The "Worm" Song

I commented on Crayonz's blog earlier that I thought I had been dissed and not to make me sing the worm song. Well, Susan assured me that I wasn't dissed, but that she didn't know the worm song and that I should sing it anyway. Yes, Susan I'm sure you will probably regret asking about this song, but life is short, take a chance.

I actually sing version II of
this to my DH, the Teenager and anyone else who makes me feel any less than totally adored and loved. (Make sure to click on the sound so that you can hear the music while reading/singing the words.)

P.S. DH made me promise not to teach this to Doodlebug when she gets older. I explained to him that she won't need it as nobody will ever make her feel any less than TOTALLY LOVED and ADORED.

Brad Update....

This post is due to a request from Crayonz and Easily Amused.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

P.S. I still WILL NOT be watching Mr. & Mrs. Smith due to the principal of the matter. End of story!
